2. Max Spencer Q&A - 4. Intro

This feature will be structured similar to those found in Advanced Photoshop and Digital Arts magazine. As such, the artist Q&A will be prefaced by an introductory section offering a brief summary of Max's work and influences, as well as clearly stating the address of his website portfolio and current location:

Max Spencer

Falmouth, UK

Max Spencer is a UK based illustrator and graphic designer, and member of the fantastic DepthCORE art group. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of creatives, such as DepthCORES's founding members Justin Maller and Ravi Vasavan, Max has been turning heads with his eye-catching blend of semi-photographic, mixed-media illustrations.

“Back in college I was part of a small art group that wasn’t very well known,” begins Max. “From there I got picked up by DepthCORE’s Justin Maller. I emailed him and he invited me into the group, and from there the contacts I gained were amazing. I owe a lot of my progression to the artists there.”

What originally started as a personal interest in illustration and digital art has already become the start of a professional freelance career, producing work for huge brands such as Nike, Coke and Sprite.

“When it comes to illustration my work is very minimal and textural.” Max explains. “I like to think that my work is tangible. By using household objects like tin foil and wire, I then incorporate hand-drawn elements, it’s very mixed-media focused.”

Currently in his third and final year studying Graphic Design at University College Falmouth, Max regards his work as being in constant development: “Everything I’m doing at the moment is experimental,” Says Max. “I’m doing stuff with clay, wire, anything I can find really. I’m building up a body of work that really represents what I do, rather than having a mish-mash of old stuff and new."

After this intro I will showcase a few of Max's pieces and move on to the main Q&A, after which I will give a kick to finish the piece off. In the middle of the Q&A I will have a two page spread of Max's work, which will include the artist’s comments from the previous post.
